Please read all of this leaflet carefully before you start taking this medicine. Keep this leaflet. You may need to read it again. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you need more information or advice.

1. What Adios is and what it is used for

  • Adios is a licensed herbal medicine traditionally used to aid slimming.
  • It is for use as part of a calorie-controlled diet.
  • The product is for use by adults (16 years and above) and the elderly.
  • The natural herbal active ingredients in this product are fucus dry extract, boldo dry extract, butternut and dandelion root.
  • The active ingredients can help you to lose weight by:
    • speeding up your body’s metabolic rate, and
    • stimulating fat metabolism.

2. Before you take Adios

Do not take Adios:

  • if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to fucus dry extract, boldo dry extract, dandelion root, butternut or any of the other ingredients (as listed in Section 6).
  • if you are under 16 years of age.

Before taking this product talk to your doctor:

  • if you are being treated for a thyroid condition.
  • if you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars (e.g. lactose intolerance).

Using other medicines:

Adios is not known to affect, or to be affected by, other medicines. However, problems of this sort are theoretically possible.

If you are taking other medicines and are in any doubt about using Adios you should talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

Taking Adios with food and drink:

Take Adios at mealtimes. Adios is not known to affect, or to be affected by, alcohol.

Pregnancy and breast feeding:

Do not take Adios if you are pregnant or breast feeding.

Driving and using machinery:

Taking this product is not known to affect your ability to drive or use machinery.

Important information about two of the ingredients of Adios:

The tablets contain small amounts of lactose and sucrose.

If you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars (e.g. lactose intolerance), discuss this with your doctor before using this product.

3. How to take Adios

Only take the tablets by mouth.

When opening the container for the first time, break the tamper evident band around the flip-top cap.

For adults (16 years and above) and the elderly:

  • Swallow one tablet 3 or 4 times a day at mealtimes.
  • Use Adios as part of a calorie-controlled diet.
  • Do not take more than the recommended dose.

If you take more Adios tablets than you should:

Stop taking them. Diarrhoea may occur if you take too many Adios tablets (see Section 4).

If you forget to take Adios:

Do not worry if you occasionally forget to take this product, just carry on taking your normal dose when you remember. Do not take any extra tablets to make up for those you may have forgotten.

4. Possible side effects

Like all medicines, Adios can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them:

  • Particularly if you take high doses or if you take the tablets too often, diarrhoea may occur. If this happens, stop taking Adios and drink plenty of fluids.

If your diarrhoea gets serious, or you notice any side effects not listed in this leaflet, stop taking the tablets and tell your doctor or pharmacist.

5. How to store Adios

  • Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
  • Do not use Adios after the expiry date shown on the container. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
  • Do not store above 25ºC.
  • Always close the cap tightly after use.
  • Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures will help to protect the environment.

6. Further information

What Adios contains:

Each coated tablet contains the following herbal active ingredients: fucus dry extract 45mg (equivalent to 225mg fucus), boldo dry extract 34mg (equivalent to 136mg boldo), dandelion root 30mg and butternut 20mg.

The other ingredients are:

Tablet core: lactose, sucrose, sodium starch glycollate, talc, pre-gelatinised starch, magnesium stearate. Tablet coating: sucrose, talc, kaolin, titanium dioxide (E171), red oxide 17266, yellow iron oxide 17268.

What Adios looks like and contents of the pack:

The tablets are circular, glossy and peach coloured. They are available in white plastic packs containing 100 tablets.
